Halloween

This year at Halloween I had some mixed emotions. It was the last year that it was just the three of us... the next day we were to go in and have our little Tatum. Reid wanted to be a "real" cowboy this year (because I guess the other time he was a cowboy he didn't look like a "real" one). So I made some chaps and a vest from a pattern that my mom had. It was super easy and Reid loved it.

He had his harvest party at school and was able to wear his costume and sing some songs with is class mates. He did awesome as usual.

Then on Saturday our ward had a Halloween party out on some ones farm full of games, a pumpkin patch, hay ride and a trunk or treat. Logan was on the activites committee so he got to help out with it again this year and his friend who was also on the committee thought it would be fun to "dress" up. By dress up he meant a wig. It was funny though and we got some good laughs at the guys in their get up.

We weren't going to go trick or treating this year because it was on Sunday but we gave in and let Reid hit a few of our neighbors houses to get candy. Our neighbor friend was a cow girl so we had to get a picture of the two of them in their costumes. Too cute. Then the Yarbrough's came over to help us hand out candy so we had to get a picture of Liv and Reid. Cutie pies!!

Once all of the festivites were over for Halloween we took Reid out to Grandpa and Grandma Hatch's for him to stay the night and the next couple of days... we were off to have a baby!!

There Was No Way This Could Have Turned Out!

Reid really wanted to do a Halloween ginger bread house when he saw this at the store. So I thought it would be a great FHE activity. Too bad it turned out horribly! The icing was either too thin or too hot so it kept dripping and none of the candy would stick to it... oh well. It was still fun and we got to eat candy along the way so it wasn't all bad! :)

Soccer

Soccer was so fun this year. Reid really got the hang of it. It took him a couple of weeks to realize he can play both offense and defense but once he did he took off. He really likes playing the goalie and blocking goals from coming into the net. So at first he would run down to the other end of the field and wait for the opposing team to bring the ball down so he could block it. It drove his coaches crazy. But Logan being the awesome dad that he is took him out back and played with him a bit to help him out on his offensive game. It helped a ton and every week we saw major improvements. He kicks mainly with is left foot because he is left handed and occasionally that causes him so miss the goal, but again we are working on helping to use his right foot too. His very last game was last Saturday and he did fantastic. He scored five goals! I think he was just showing off for all of the family he had there to cheer him on. Grandma and Grandpa Richardson, Aunt Erica, Spencer, Jamison, and Grandma Hatch were all there. He had quite the cheering section. I think we may have embarrassed him once or twice... oops! How fun our Saturdays were to go and watch him play. We will miss it until next year!

One Saturday while walking through one of our favorite yet dangerous stores (we tend to spend A LOT of money when we go in there) we happened upon a bunch of kids making fun house mirrors. Luckily we got there early enough before Reid's soccer game and he got to join in on the fun. They gave him a kit with an apron, goggles, the fun house mirror kit and a little hammer just his size. Logan and I helped him build it but for the most part he did most of it. He is very good at following instructions and figuring out where the pieces went. The whole way to his soccer game he sat in the back seat making faced into the mirror. It was so funny!

Field Trips

So far this year Reid has had two field trips. The first one was to a dairy just outside of town. The kids got to feed animals, watch cows being milked, watch a video about cows, and eat cheese curds and drink milk. They loved it. Reid thought he knew it all and was telling the kids which cows were bulls and which ones weren't. I don't know where he gets his know it all attitude!!

Next we went to a fire station. It is a newer facility so it was really nice. The kids loved that there were three refrigerates and a huge TV. We got to see where they sleep, eat and exercise. Then of course we got to go out and see the fire truck. Each kid got to sit in the front seat and "drive" the fire truck. The fire man told us all about fire safety and even dressed up in all of his gear so the kids would know what they look like and to not be afraid of them if they ever had to come into their house.

Trains!

This morning at 8:15 the oldest steam powered locomotive came through town. It carried over 65 cars from the Ringling Brothers and Barney and Bailey Circus. It was awesome! The locomotive was HUGE! And of course there was a lot of steam. Reid was scared to get anywhere near the train and it took a lot of encouraging to get some decent pictures. It was so fun to see such an old steam locomotive and some of the clowns from the circus. Totally worth waking up early and getting our behinds in gear to see!

Pregnancy Pictures

My sister has really taken up photography and is quite good. She has wanted to take our family pictures for some time now and this recent change to my body gave her a perfect opportunity to try out her skills. I will say no more and let the picture speak for themselves.
